Greece is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and I’ve had the pleasure of visiting three of its most stunning destinations: Athens, Zakynthos, and Santorini. With its rich history, stunning beaches, and delicious cuisine, Greece is a must-visit for any traveller, and these three destinations should definitely be at the top of your list. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my experiences visiting each of these incredible places, and why you should add them to your itinerary for 2023.
Athens, the birthplace of democracy and home to some of the world’s most famous ancient landmarks, left me in awe. From strolling through the bustling streets to marvelling at the architectural wonder of the Acropolis and the Parthenon, I was transported back in time to the glory days of ancient Greece. The National Archaeological Museum, with its vast collection of artefacts, was a highlight of my trip and truly gave me a deeper appreciation for the rich history of this remarkable city.
Zakynthos, with its turquoise waters and gorgeous beaches, was a complete contrast to the bustling city of Athens. I loved taking a boat tour of the Blue Caves, where I was able to witness the stunning beauty of the crystal-clear waters and awe-inspiring sea caves. The island’s laid-back vibe and breath-taking scenery made it the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun.
Santorini is much more than just the iconic blue-domed churches. This stunning island is a true gem in the Aegean Sea and offers a wealth of experiences for visitors. From the picturesque villages perched on the cliffside to the breathtaking views from the caldera, Santorini is a feast for the senses. I was also pleasantly surprised by the variety of activities available on the island, including wine tasting at its many vineyards, exploring the ancient ruins of Akrotiri, and indulging in the delicious local cuisine. The sunsets here are truly magical and should not be missed. With so much to see and do, Santorini is a must-visit destination in Greece.
