Wine tasting is always a fun and educational experience, and my visit to El Grifo Winery in Lanzarote was no exception. Our tour guide was fantastic – she was knowledgeable, passionate, and eager to share her expertise with us.
The tour started with a walk through the winery’s lush vineyards, where our guide explained the unique winemaking process used in Lanzarote, which involves growing the vines in holes dug in the island’s volcanic ash. It was fascinating to learn about the challenges and rewards of winemaking on this rugged island.
After the vineyard tour, we were led to the tasting room, where we sampled three wines – a crisp white, a rich red, and a delicious dessert wine. Our guide even threw in an extra wine for us to try. Each wine was perfectly paired with a small snack, which added to the overall experience.
One tip I would offer to anyone planning to visit El Grifo Winery for a wine tasting is to not do it on an empty stomach. I made that mistake and was feeling the effects of the wine much more than I anticipated!
Overall, my experience at El Grifo Winery was unforgettable. The wines were excellent, the tour was informative, and the scenery was stunning. I highly recommend this winery to anyone visiting Lanzarote.
